Foot Care with Young Living Essential Oils
Young Living's therapeutic-grade essential oils are an excellent choice for those seeking natural alternatives. High quality essential oils can assist problems such as: foot fungus, foot discomforts, and dry skin through application of essential oils topically and in a foot bath, and other Young Living skin care products can help with dryness.
Whether using Young Living oils in a foot bath or in conjunction with therapies such as: VitaFlex, Reflexology or Massage the essential oils can play a large role in foot care and wellness, particularly when combined with other bodywork therapies.
There are many solutions we can apply at home very easily that can help us maintain happy, healthy and pretty feet. Below are some tips, recipes, and foot charts that can help you perform your own foot wellness routine from the comfort of your own home.
Additionally, there are Young Living oils that can be used when we injure our feet. This happened to me this past spring, I injured my foot so badly that I was unable to walk for over three months. The essential oils I used over the past six months for this injury are many and varied; at each stage of healing I found that switching to a different oil was most helpful.
At this latest satge of my foot and ankle injury the combination of Young Living essential oils that is showing very nice results is applying Cypress, then Copaiba, then a Young Living Massage Oil called Cel-Lite Magic. I've been using this combination for about a week now and today, I am ecstatic to say that I was able to go out alone to do some errands all by myself. Albeit I wasn't able to walk quickly and what would have normally taken me two or three hours to complete, took four and a half hours... hey, but I'm certainly not complaining! This is light years worth of improvement over what it has been.
Lavender-Peppermint Foot Soak
This recipe is a favorite for sore, tired feet - especially after a long day of standing and walking.
- 2 drops Lavender
- 2 drops Peppermint
- 2 drops Chamomile
- 1/4 cup Epsom Salts
Cool, soothe and relieve your painful and swollen feet after a long day. Add essential oil and epsom salt mixture to a large bowl of warm water. Soak your feet for at least 10 minutes.
Pretty Feet Melrose Foot Bath
Our feet take a beating, at the same time we want them to feel and look their best. This foot bath recipe will help get your feet on their way to looking great.
- 1 cup Lemon Juice
- 1 1/2 Tablespoons Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 1/4 cup full fat Milk
- 3 drops Young Living Melrose Essential Oil blend
Mix all ingredients together and add to your foot bath water. Soak feet for 10-15 minutes, rinse well, and pat dry.
Melrose essential oil blend is excellent for foot and nail fungus. If you've not had success with Tea Tree (Melaleuca) you will be be quite pleased with the results of Melrose.
Tip for Dry Cracked Feet:
You'll need...Young Living Tender Tush and Animal Scents Ointment. Take a tiny dab of each in the palm of your hand and mix, rub on feet - this is also excellent for dry knees, elbows, and hands - in no time you'll have the prettiest and healthiest feet in town!
General Skin Recipe for Dry Chapped Skin
- 1 drop Young Living Rosewood Essential Oil
- 1 drop Young Living Patchouli Essential Oil
- 1 drop Young Living Geranium Essential Oil
- 1/2 teaspoon Young Living V-6 Mixing Oil (a carrier oil)
Mix all ingredients together, then rub or massage onto feet evenly.
Optional: for very chapped skin, seal in the above mixture on your hands, knees, elbows or feet with the tiniest dab of Young Living Tender Tush Ointment, terrific for dry knee's too.
VitaFlex Foot Chart and Essential Oil Application Points
Gary Young writes: "Vita Flex Technique means "vitality through the reflexes." With Vita Flex, the oils are applied on the contact points of the body. The healing energy is released through the electrical impulses by the contact between the fingertips and the reflex points. This stimulates an electrical charge that follows the pathways of the nervous system to where there is a break in the electrical circuit which will be directly related to an energy block caused by toxins, damaged tissues, or loss of oxygen.
This reflex system of controls encompasses the entire body and mind, releasing all kinds of tension, congestion and imbalances. This technique was believed to have originated in Tibet many thousands of years ago, long before acupuncture was ever discovered. With Vita Flex, the weakened or injured areas are corrected on the electrical reflex points, thus preventing further injury and resulting in less stress, which allows for quicker and more efficient healing.
"To use the Vita Flex Technique, always place the oils in the palm of your hand and use the dominant hand to stir the oils clockwise three times before applying them on location. The same thing applies for those who practice reflexology, acupressure, spinal touch, zone therapy, etc. All types of different therapies will result in a significant improvement when combined with the oxygen and high electrical frequency of the oils.
When using the Vita Flex Technique with essential oils, it is best to start on the bottom of the feet. The foot charts that I have created may seem a little different from the standard reflexology charts. I found that while testing the electrical currents with the frequency monitor that the contact points were a little different than those shown on standard foot charts. The Vita Flex charts are based on electrical frequency tracing, which is more accurate."
Use the Foot Chart below to see which Young Living oils might be a good choice for you, note the pressure points too:

Another piece of information you may find useful is that the pores on the soles of the feet are large, compared to other areas of skin on the body. For this reason you will hear from those who use Young Living essential oils... "when in doubt, apply your oils to the soles of your feet." This is good advice because the essential oil can get into the system quickly and spread throughout the body; addressing the whole body.
Actually, it wasn't until I began using the Young Living oils about ten years ago that I started realizing just how much our skin, and the skin of our feet, can absorb. For instance, I realized that when we walk across a wet or damp floor bare foot that has just been washed with a cleaner that is not completely natural, those chemicals are literally getting into our bodies and our cells - yikes!
Since becoming much more conscious of this I am very aware of the surface I'm putting my feet, partcularly if they're bare. This is not to say we shouldn't walk around the house bare footed, but rather we need to be much more mindful than we have been. Leaving our shoes at the door is of course ideal as lawn chemicals can easily get spread onto floor surfaces. Not using synthertic chemical carpet sprays and carpet shampoos would also be best to eliminate too - a good alternative would be to use the Thieves Household Cleaner (PDF booklet) in place of chemical carpet shampoos, the dilution ratio of the concentrate makes using the Thieves Household Cleaner an extremely cost efficient alternative that I highly recommend.
